Taylar is always up for a new outdoor adventure, whether it’s on or in the water, camping, hiking, or cross-country skiing, and can trace her earliest swimming memories to Devil's Lake State Park. Originally from Portage, she now lives in Madison. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Edgewood University and a Master of Science degree from UW-Madison's Department of Urban and Regional Planning.
Taylar is passionate about getting people to experience outdoor recreation in whatever way they most enjoy it as well as preserving and protecting our natural resources. Contact Taylar here.
Taylar Foster, Executive Director
Taylar got involved in the Friends of Devil’s Lake shortly after moving back to Wisconsin from Vermont, when she was reacquainted with the park as a climber and trail runner. Taylar served on the board of directors before being hired as the Executive Director.
Her past work experiences include the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin Department of Tourism - Office of Outdoor Recreation, as a land use planner, and at nonprofit and for-profit farms.
Cinnamin Harwood, Social Media Contractor
Cinnamin has a BBA in Marketing from UW–Madison and loves using her skills to support local organizations that value community and sustainability. She works with several Wisconsin-based clients—specializing in organic farms and food businesses—helping them share their stories, connect with their communities, and grow their online presence.
At Friends of Devil’s Lake, Cinnamin leads our social media presence, creating engaging content and encouraging visitors to enjoy the park responsibly. You might also see her snapping photos at events throughout the year, capturing the park’s beauty and the people who enjoy it.
When she’s not behind the computer, Cinnamin can be found climbing rocks or ice, paddling her canoe, hiking, or swimming. She also enjoys naturally dyeing fabrics with plants and is currently working on creating her own food forest. Living in the Baraboo area, she feels lucky to call Devil’s Lake home. Contact Cinnamin
Chris Gabrielson, Social Media Contractor
Chris and his family moved to Baraboo in 1996 from Houghton, MI and immediately fell in love with the area while driving through the lower narrows to look for an apartment. Being a young family just starting out, his weekends were spent going to local state parks and State Natural Areas for “entertainment.” Devil’s Lake became a staple and their favorite place. Along with his trail buddy, Fozzie, he’s logged over 1200 miles exploring this amazing property. Chris likes to get up early for a sunrise hike and his favorite season at the park is winter. He’s mostly used social media to showcase adventures with Fozzie, which mostly happened at Devil’s Lake State Park, and the two of them knew the park from crack to crevice.
When he’s not hiking/trail running, you can find him on a road or mountain bike exploring Sauk County and many trail systems across the Midwest. He also serves on the Bike and Pedestrian Commission for the City of Baraboo, as a board member of The Friends of Baraboo Parks, and Treasurer of Baraboo Area Mountain Bike Association. Our parks are important spaces and need to be protected. There are places that need to remain wild for future generations.
Chris most often contributes to the Friends of Devil’s Lake social media through his “Meet the Folks of Devil’s Lake” and “On the Trail” segments featured each week. If you meet Chris on the trails, he might just grab your story and a photo!
